WHAT IS A TONGUE TIE / LIP TIE?
Often called a frenulum, a tongue, lip or buccal tie is a small band of tissues that connects either the tongue to the floor of the mouth, or the lip to the gingiva. With a tongue tie, the tongue is attached too far forward or too tight to the floor of the mouth which does not allow the tongue and its eight muscles to function properly.

SOFT TISSUE LASER TECHNOLOGY
Less Invasive and Comprehensive Care
At Untied Tongue Tie Center we believe in offering the highest quality and best care for our patients. That is why we only use the most advanced laser in the field for soft tissue- a CO2 laser. A CO2 laser vaporizes the intra and extra cellular water in the cells of the tissue. The doctors at Untied researched many lasers of this kind to find the best in this field.
SHORTENED SURGERY TIME
Less bleeding results in the improved visibility of the surgical field. The surgeon and the team do not have to spend much time trying to control the bleeding, and as a result, the duration of the surgery is reduced.
LESS DISCOMFORT & SWELLING
A CO2 laser beam seals lymphatics, resulting in less post-operative swelling and discomfort associated with traditional scalpel and or diode (hot laser) surgery.
OPTIMAL PRECISION
The CO2 laser Untied uses has a wavelength of 10.6 micrometers which is universally regarded as the best suited wavelength for soft tissue surgery. This allows the Doctor to treat areas much easier and more thorough than a traditional scalpel or diode (hot laser).

MEET THE DOCTOR'S
Comprehensive Care Team

DR. NASEM DUNLOP DMD, CLEC
Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Nasem Dunlop DMD is a board-certified pediatric dentist who has been offering services to Orange County for almost ten years. She completed her dental training at the prestigious Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and her advanced pediatric dentistry residency at the equally prestigious University of Southern California. She owns Treehouse Pediatric Dentistry where she offers comprehensive, high quality care to her patients of Orange County. She is on staff at Children’s Hospital Orange County and two surgery centers in OC.

Her interest in the field of tethered oral tissues began with her troubles trying to breastfeed her oldest son who went undiagnosed for a severe tongue tie for several years. Experiencing incredible pain, multiple bouts of mastitis and low milk supply, she sought out the “expertise” of her pediatrician and lactation consultant. After feeling that she had nowhere to turn to that was all inclusive for therapy and surgery, she decided to close that gap with Untied Tongue Tie Center of California. She has since furthered her knowledge by completing an advanced tethered oral tissue course with Dr. Kotlow, a leader in this field, and becoming a Certified Lactation Education Counselor (CLEC). She is excited to meet you and help guide you and your infant through this precious time (that shouldn’t be so difficult!).
DR. GARY HSZIEH DDS, MS
Anesthesiologist
Dr. Gary Hszieh DDS, MS is a dual trained general dentist and dental anesthesiologist with over 15 years of experience practicing in the oral healthcare field.
Helping people with tongue ties is near and dear to Dr. Gary’s heart. At the age of four years old, he was diagnosed with a speech impediment due to lingual tethered tissue (a tongue tie) and a frenectomy (tongue tie release) was subsequently performed using older cauterization technology. Years down the road, he learned that tethered tissues causing a multitude of ailments such as sleep/breathing/airway issues, breastfeeding problems and speech impediments, can be relieved by a simple, minimally invasive procedure combined with supportive therapy and care. Because of his own personal experiences, Dr. Gary saw a need to help and educate those afflicted with oral restrictions. He sought extensive training in diagnosing and treating tethered tissues with advanced aiming beam CO2 laser technology and learning about the supportive care network needed to help individuals and families overcome the various tongue tie related issues. Dr. Gary’s goal is to listen and understand each patient/parent’s needs and to provide the highest quality care for a life changing experience!
Dr. Gary Hszieh received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Master of Physiology from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and Graduate School. After practicing general dentistry for several years, he was accepted into the rigorous Dental Anesthesiology residency program at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. As part of the residency curriculum, Dr. Gary completed rotations in hospital and out patient surgery center operating rooms, cardiology, internal medicine and emergency room medicine at various healthcare facilities including Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Koppel Special Care Dentistry Center, Riverside County Medical Center and Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital. At the Koppel Special Care Dentistry Center, Dr. Gary received extensive experience, caring for the pediatric and special needs population, which includes individuals with autism, ADD/ADHD and intellectual/learning disabilities. It was during this time, Dr. Gary felt a strong desire to work with the underserved pediatric and special needs community, and for his efforts and contributions was bestowed the distinguished
2020 Leaders in Oral Health Service Award from the non-profit organization, Healthy Smiles of Orange County.

Dr Boloorchi’s specialty in anesthesia has led her to explore and learn more about airway health and its medical manifestations on the human body.
She is very passionate about helping her patients live a better life by releasing tethered oral tissues.
